Sculpture for The Meadows School
15 July 2019
Local sculptor Luke Perry, based in Cradley Heath, was commissioned by the school to create something special that will become a focal point in the school's memorial garden.
The hand-shaped sculpture was commissioned by the school and the project has been partially funded by the family and friends of former pupil Cole Small.
Cole sadly passed away in 2014. His parents Kerry and Lee Small set up a fundraising page which raised more than £2,000 to help fund the sculpture.
Kerry Small, now a member of staff at school, said: “We were overwhelmed by the generosity and it has brought us such joy and happiness to think that people still loved and remembered Cole.
“We wanted to support the school and because they have given us such wonderful support, we wanted to give something back.”
The hand sculpture will hold a glass pebble for each student who has passed away. The colour of the pebble will be chosen by each family.
