Letter to Parents
18 September 2020
Unfortunately, following a bubble closure, a number of schools have made us aware of a social media backlash from a minority of parents through Facebook and Twitter. We appreciate that some of the comments posted are completely unwarranted, upsetting and usually wholly inaccurate. To help counter this I have asked the press office to release a drip feed of statements through our Council Facebook and Twitter accounts to explain that schools have to close bubbles following advice from Public Health and the DfE. It may be helpful if you are able to retweet or share any official press office statements through your school accounts.
Also, to further assist please find attached a letter to parents and carers which can be circulated through your normal communications routes or put on your web pages for parents to view.
In our experience the high majority of parents and carers are extremely supportive of the work schools have been doing throughout the last 7 months. Unfortunately, a small minority of generally vocal parents do not understand what you are having to do at the moment and simply do not appreciate the complexity of running a school safely in these difficult times.
